@sister..crystal: Replying to @permacultureandponies I get asked this a lot: “Can a non-Muslim wear a hijab?” Yes. Of course you can. Hair covering isn’t owned by Muslims. Women have covered their hair across cultures and religions for thousands of years. That said, hijab is very strongly associated with Muslim women today. If you wear one, people will assume you’re Muslim. So two gentle things to keep in mind: • Safety: the current social and political climate is hostile, and visible Muslim women often face abuse. Please be aware of your surroundings. • Awareness: for Muslims, hijab isn’t just a fashion accessory. It represents modesty, faith, and identity, so pairing it with very revealing clothing can feel confusing to some. This isn’t about gatekeeping, but a gentle reminder of some important considerations. You are welcome to wear hijab, and I hope it brings you the comfort and joy it brings me and many of my sisters 🤍 #hijab #hijabi #islam #muslimtiktok #fyp

It breaks my heart that the first disclaimer has to be said. I’m so, so sorry so many people have made public existence so unnecessarily challenging for so many wonderful people.

as an atheist it breaks my heart that the world is in a way that you have to put a safety disclaimer😢 Asalam Alaikum 🫶

it is ironic how in the west women are told to wear what they want as long as it doesn't include covering up

I admire the respectful answers you have for questions you receive, and the fact you pointed out a safety aspect too says a lot about you as a person. Thank you for spreading education in such a welcoming way x

Could you do a hijab tutorial for work? I'm struggling to put on a hijab correctly with my scrub, especially with those dos and don'ts in nhs 😁

Hey Crystal, there is a Muslim lady who’s child is in my daughters class, I would like to greet her more often when I see her something other than “hello”

Thank you for answering so eloquently. I was saddened that the first warning was necessary. I truly hope the day will come when tolerance, love and understanding replace judgement, hate and ignorance. ❤️

I get sinus headaches when the weather is very humid and/or windy. They're horrible. I learned to wrap my scarfs tightly around my head to help prevent them. initially I was self-conscious about it, now I just automatically pull my scarf up to walk outside in bad weather.

“If you feel unsafe, take it off” - genuine question, what do Muslim women do if they feel unsafe? It seems unlikely you would remove the head covering but would you ever feel you had no choice?

genuine question why do you cover you're hair correct if wrong but it's to avoid the attraction from other men but if that's the case men are attracted to looks not hair
