Veteran here! If, hypothetically, you get exposed to CS gas, do NOT close your eyes after exposure. That will only leave the irritant stuck in them; open your eyes as wide as possible and let it dissipate. During our CS chamber training, we would move around swiftly with arms spread and eyes open (easier said than done) to minimize the amount of time the gas is causing irritation. Hypothetically of course!

What?! It’s banned in warfare but governments can use it against their own citizens???

CS Gas also caused contact lenses to fuse to your corneas, least that’s what we were told in boot camp so make sure you have glasses as a back up and don’t wear contacts.

So if it is banned by the Geneva conventions and you find yourself a hypothetical victim or know other hypothetical victims, how can you bring it to the attention of that particular governing body so they can educate the obviously mistaken user on their oopsie? Because no government would knowingly do so and the writers of the protocol obviously did that so they could educate those that break it

DO NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES to anywhere this is a risk. coming from someone who got gasses by the military in north station paris. if you do have lenses in, take them out as fast as possible if your hands haven’t yet been contaminated otherwise wash hands very well before removing lenses asap as the powder sticks to them

its legal for law enforcement, and as training for military. it was banned in 1993 in warfare, because it might escalate to using a worse gas. it also will not hurt you if you dont use violence, or obstruct law enforcement in their duties.

Paper painters suits give great coverage, are cheap, easy to remove, and can be purchased in bulk to hand out to friends, which also has the bonus of making you less identifiable in any footage. With goggles, make sure you get proper safety rates ones in case of unexpected (or entirely expected) impacts.

Easily removed is so key. Trying to strip off a tangled suit in 108 degree Texas summer while your entire face is draining isn't fun, trust me

is CS gas tear gas? During the Troubles in NI, they regularly gassed women and children. My mother was taught at the age of 5 to get lemonade and use it on your eyes to stop the burning. She did it multiple times and swears by it (apologies if this isn't scientifically accurate though, this is just what people in Belfast did back in the day)

It's banned!? I wish they had told our Drill Sergeants that during Basic Training. It would have saved us a lot of pain.

Everyone who’s been in the military has gone through the “confidence chamber”. CS sucks, but it’s not lethal.
