I'm an OR nurse and you hand it a specific way so that the dr doesn't have to adjust or look when taking the instrument. it makes a difference because, especially when surgeons are using loupes, their field of vision is *tiny* they're focused on a tiny specific spot and having to look for the instrument or readjust their grip, they might lose their place and then lose time finding it again. those moments make a big difference, especially if the operation isn't going well. honestly, the way Shawn reacted in the OR is way nicer than the way some other surgeons end up yelling at people. the nurse was highly disrespectful imo

When I was training to be a facial surgeon's assistant, we always listened to the surgeon and presented everything the way he felt comfortable and needed. He knows best, and many things have their own meaning (even the angle of the instrument's delivery is important).
