Well said Sir. most people see "27 thousandths" but dont realize that it is 0.027 of an inch. negligible. standard gasket thickness is 1/16" - 1/8" (0.067-0.125). considering the total material removal from both sides of the part doesn't even equate to that, There won't be an issue. as you mentioned, use a shim or a thicker gasket. even if you used aftermarket garbage, you still wouldn't negatively affect water flow or belt wear.

I eyeball belt alignment all the time. Never had an issue. I’m sure .027 of an in off will be more than fine.
