Every week, I hear someone say they’re waiting for interest rates to come down before buying a home. And I get it! Buying a home is a big decision, and wanting the best possible rate makes sense. ❤️ But let’s take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Over the past 51 years, only ONE year saw average mortgage rates fall below 3%. Fewer than 10 years averaged below 4%. Rates like we saw in 2020 and 2021 were the exception, not the norm. Those historically low rates came during an unprecedented time in our world. Hoping to see them again is understandable, but we can’t build our plans around something that may not happen anytime soon. Here’s what I want you to know: I’m not here to tell you to buy a house before you’re ready. I’m here to help you understand your options. Interest rates can potentially be changed down the road through refinancing, if rates drop and refinancing makes financial sense. There are no guarantees, but it can be an option. The purchase price you agree to today, however, becomes the price you paid for that home. You can refinance your mortgage, but you can’t go back and renegotiate the original purchase price simply because the market changes. Sometimes waiting is the right decision. Other times, waiting for the “perfect” rate could mean missing an opportunity that makes sense for you right now. The goal isn’t to time the market perfectly. It’s to make a smart move for your life, your family, and your finances. 🏡 #nkyrealtor #kyrealtor #interestrates #fyp
