never been on a plane but have been on a 24 hour train ride down the east coast from Pennsylvania where I live to Florida down south. Also took a 2 day bus ride to Mississippi from Pennsylvania

One of the biggest vocal/visible disparities we have in the US is “school shootings” and I use quotes for a reason. Because US statistics don’t use an intent based identifier but rather a location based identifier when classifying something as a “school shooting”. For example: the horrific act of going into a school while it in session and attacking those present is a school shooting (no quotations). A 40 year old man with depression goes to a school parking lot at 2am on Sunday morning and commits suicide by GSW to the head is also a “school shooting” in the classification according to American statistics. Both situations and many others including: gang violence near school campuses, altercations between adults on school grounds after school hours without students present, even a police officer discharging a firearm on or near school property in an event that has nothing to do with the school or its students is considered a “school shooting”. All of these situations that have nothing to do with students and/or happen off school grounds or after hours are all folded into the US statistics for “school shootings” remove all of the completely unrelated incidents and our rates drop dramatically to a point where our schools are no less safe than any other country. It’s just because the people doing the statistics artificially inflated the numbers to make the situation seem worse than it is.

I dunno where that guy lives but I do know noe that the vast majority of gun crime happens in 5 major cities...all with heavy gun restrictions. Where I live you can hardly throw a stick without it landing at the feet of an armed citizen and there is almost zero gun crime here.
