People are entitled to their own opinion, but i think people are wrong about velen, Velen perfectly captures the gritty nature of the witcher world andrzej sapkowski wrote about, the coarse living conditions, the cursed land and the rich lore of the ladies of the woods. The thing that makes it so cozy to be indoors in velen is the fact that the outside is so opposingly unsettling. The music usikg old norse/eastern european instruments. The complexity of the characters. Velen is perfect. And in not saying Toussaint is worse necessarily but doesnt fit the witcher theme nearly as good. Still beautiful

The music is just incredible in Velen, really unsettling, atmospheric, just the perfect blend of storytelling too. I hate Velen but that means the people who created such atmosphere did the job right!

на мой вкус - это и наиболее атмосферная часть локации и игры в целом ни квесты в городах, ни на скелиге, ни где-либо ещё так не завораживали, как в Велен. Вот в таком месте ведьмак ощущался органичнее всего: леса, болота, ведьмы, хтонь, бедный запуганный и обезумевший люд... и это великолепное музыкальное сопровождение. Именно первая половина игры доставила больше всего удовольствия

Velen is The Witcher. it's bleak and poor. it encapsulated exactly what the world of The Witcher really is. some people forget that without Velen, we wouldn't find the joy that other parts of this world brings. Velen grounds you before seeing what the rest of the worls has to offer and it makes you appreciate it more for that very reason.
