i cannot wait for you to read Mark of Athena. no spoilers, but there is a scene that has really good commentary about love and war, which i’ve noticed you keep brining up (rightfully so). rick’s depiction of aphrodite (or more specifically, her kids) is meh at first, i’d say it improves as the books go on.

the Aphrodite kids making the other campers look good before battle kind of reminds of of Herodotus describing the Spartans... like half of them were just like chillin, brushing their hair before the flight 😂

Just so you know, a lot of the changes in the show are just things that needed to be changed so that the story would make sense in a different format. We’re not in Percy’s head in the show, we don’t hear his inner monologue so some things had to be tweaked so that we have the same information without that. It very much sticks to the spirit of the books, if not always the letter. And it’s much much better than the awful movies from years ago, I literally wrote an essay on how bad the first one was in middle school
