@noramichalski: In 2003, a behavioral immunologist studying chronic illness patterns noticed something unusual. The people who almost never got sick — no burnout, no endless colds — all shared one peculiar habit: they talked to themselves out loud. In grocery stores. While driving. On quiet walks. Not because something was wrong with them, but because they were unconsciously regulating their nervous systems. He wired volunteers to monitor cortisol and immune markers in real time. The moment people voiced their inner thoughts, stress hormones fell by 35%. Those who remained silent showed elevated cortisol for hours. One researcher observed: "Your body treats suppressed emotion like a toxin it cannot eliminate." A high-performing executive in the study admitted: "I prided myself on never processing out loud. Then they showed me my immune markers — I had the inflammatory profile of someone with chronic disease. The day I started narrating my stress to an empty room, my numbers shifted within a week." The mechanism: speaking activates the vagus nerve, which slows the heart rate and signals your immune system to stop treating your body as though it's under attack. He called it "audible digestion" — the mind needs to metabolize emotion the way the body digests food. The most troubling finding: people conditioned to "hold it together" showed the greatest immune suppression. One doctor put it plainly: "Your immune system mirrors your communication. What you refuse to express outwardly, your body stops defending internally. Most chronic illness begins with silence locked inside the nervous system." Have you noticed that the healthiest people aren't those who never feel stress — they're the ones who process it out loud, even when no one is listening? We may never cross paths again. It’s not that talking to yourself = never getting sick. It’s context dependent but from what I can gather from my general knowledge it would be more so a degree of: Nervous system regulation = more effective homeostasis = increase efficiency in functioning of biological systems including the immune system. (Not a professional, just have hella autism)

This also lines up with praying out loud to God and sharing and giving Him your worried and problems.

Self talk (positively) can only happen when you reach a certain level of trust with yourself is not happening overnight.

I think it has something to do with voicing what's bothering you instead of bottling it up and keeping it inside. I work with so many people that are sick constantly and they battle everything up instead of talking about it.

Processing feelings out loud is underrated 😭 I used to think I just needed to “be stronger” while my body was screaming. Constant puffiness, low energy, random aches… I felt stuck in that cycle. Nothing surface level changed it long term. In a women’s community I kept seeing Eat Like a Woman Protocol (by Loren Green) pop up so I got curious. I tried it and 28 lbs later, flatter belly, steady mood, way less feeling run down. feels like info we were never taught.

Water holds memory. Before you drink anything or eat anything speak love and life into it. Our bodies are 76%-ish water, so tell your body what it needs to do lovingly and speak positively to any area that needs healing. OR pray out loud over all aspects of need. I am a gigantic believer in this subject based on results.
