@jarrettisnotimpressed: Good, good fried chicken over at @mothers.best in Decatur! Was it expensive to me, hell yeah. But I get it, restauranteurs gotta eat too. So maybe I wouldn’t visit this place twice a week like I do with Popeyes, but I if someone said meet me at Mother’s Best, you better believe I’ll show up. Also the red beans & rice were also bussin. Harsh truth: playing competitive sports, especially team sports, makes your kid a better person. The value of sports is so important to our family. It builds leadership and teamwork, grit and resilience. You can really only understand the depth and reality of this if you journey with your kid through sport. There are so many obstacles, ups and downs, so much joy and heartbreak. This translates into kids who are well rounded, fun to be around, and kids who will probably be very employable someday. Beyond that, when they get a chance to lead on the field, the ice, or the court, they will probably be the employers someday. I’ve been talking a lot about the money we spend on our kids sports lately. And it sure seems like a lot. Trust me, it’s a lot. But it’s so much more than the dollar amount for us. It’s truly an investment in the people they are becoming. And you just don’t get the same experience if you’re not playing competitively. Thanks to @lee_forsberg for this great audio, his research and insight. Couldn’t agree more.
