Hot take but I HATED the riddler's representation in The Batman. It just felt like an entire different persona though I understand they were trying to make things more "realistic" but it just didn't feel anything like Edward Nygma. It felt like they threw him in a box with all the other villians. The TV show Gotham will always be one of the best representations of the Riddler.

Dano’s Riddler is a mix of Comics Riddler and Hush. This mix is perfectly legitimate because both characters are obsessed with one of the two facets of Batman/Bruce Wayne in the comics. The irony of this Riddler is that he's obsessed with both facets without having yet managed to connect the two. Which is bound to happen soon.

I don't know why they don't like that it's finally getting serious. They mention the one from Gotham, and for me, he's one of the most boring. He's almost always portrayed as a comic character, with an extravagant costume, and I don't know, that version is cool, but this new character—pathetic, lost in his illusions, extremist, a manipulative genius of the games of fear and agitator of the Gotham masses—is a much more interesting version if you're objective.
