They do this to moms in America as well. Here, it’s to remove women from the work force, allow men not to take responsibility for their families and to take the financial power away from women and their child. Financial scarcity affects families for generations after the original parents, it’s the plan.

Japan isnt country everyone can survive and this also reason for too many homeless people. Foregins and womans are often looked down and labeled with tags that not pleasant. Too many law that are circled and stuck to old habits. Anyway, my grandpa ( he was Japanese) told me often to never be part of Japan citizens.

Same in the USA. School starts before work or vice versa. Some schools don’t have before or after school programs and so the parent has to have a part time job or have someone else pick up their kid.

It’s really not the same in the US and every state’s benefits that mothers and families can apply to is different between states. In Florida, through DCF you can apply for ELC which heavily discounts daycare or even makes it free depending on where you lie on tax bracket- you don’t need to prove you have a job but after a while you will be encouraged to start looking as ELC starts running out after a while for your child.

They most definitely do this in the US. We had just moved to Orlando and I haven’t had a job yet they denied me basically saying if I don’t get work then he can stay home with me

I wasn’t working so obviously hoikuen wasn’t an option but it was also so hard to find a yochien (obviously different things but same need). I ended up getting into an international school preschool, which was helpful but super expensive.

if you live near a military base you could apply on usajobs. you'd basically be a contracted employee but the pay would be good. they have regular jobs like working at a vet's office or reception

Damn. What does the Unemployed do? Does this not violate the Declaration of Human Rights whereas a child has the right to education or what's up cause this sounds like a horrible practice.

That's only for hoikuen. Parents can send their child to yochien when they turn 3. And depending on the district, hoikuens will accept kids with non working parents if space is available

It's similar in the US. I was trying to get my kids in preschool so I could get a job when we were homeless. But the preschool program for people in my situation required I already have at least a part time job. I had no one to even watch my kids for interviews.

How did TikTok know I literally JUST went through the catch-22 of getting a bank account + Japanese phone number 😭 Luckily we set up the bank account under someone else’s phone number, got my new Japanese phone number, and then changed the bank phone number but it was such a scary loop to be in for a second there
