Shrimp & Grits 🍤
Shrimp: 1 lb shrimp
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Creole seasoning
1 tsp paprika
½tsp cayenne
½tsp salt
½tsp pepper
Grits:
4 cups chicken broth
1 tbsp butter
1 cup grits
½cup heavy cream
1½ cups Colby Jack cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Bacon:
5–6 strips bacon
Sauce:
½cup chicken broth
1cup heavy cream
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Creole seasoning
1 tsp paprika
Veggies: diced onion, bell pepper, celery
Toppings: bacon, green onions, sauce
Directions:
1.Season shrimp with all shrimp seasonings and set aside.
2. Cook bacon until crispy. Remove and save the grease.
3. Bring 4 cups chicken broth and 1 tbsp butter to a boil.
4. Stir in 1 cup grits quickly so they do not clump. Add a little salt and pepper.
5. Lower heat and cook grits for about 15 mins, stirring often. Add 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1 1/2 cups Colby Jack. 6. Stir until thick and creamy.
6. Cook shrimp in the bacon grease until done, then remove.
7. In that same skillet, sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery.
8. Add 1/2 cup chicken broth and 1 cup heavy cream.
9. Season sauce with garlic powder, onion powder, Creole seasoning, and paprika. Simmer until thick and creamy.
10. Assemble with grits, shrimp, bacon, green onions, and plenty of sauce.
