“Russia you will not believe what I just did” (still no escaping my history dumps— Archduke Franz Ferdinand of the Austro-Hungarian Empire was assassinated on June 28th, 1914 while in Sarajevo, previously owned by Austria-Hungary, now the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was assassinated in a car of a motorcade via a gunshot wound to the jugular vein, fired by Bosnian Serb Gavrilo Princip. This event was considered the “spark” to the First World War, though WWI was motivated and ignited by several factors beyond it including the arms race between the United Kingdom and the German Empire and colonialism. The Kingdom of Serbia and the Russian Empire were allies, which meant that upon Austria-Hungary declaring war on Serbia for the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the Russian Empire would enter the war (alongside the allies of both sides respectively, and these two sides are known as the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente).) #countryhumans #countryhumansshitpost #countryhumanskingdomofserbia #countryhumansserbia #countryhumansaustriahungary #countryhumansrussianempire #History
