I never really shipped Haymitch and Effie but after SOTR I definitely don't ship it. "oh but that means he died sad and alone" why are we diminishing platonic relationships? he had Peeta and Katniss. and I DO believe that Haymitch cares about Effie, he spent 25 years knowing her and saved her when the rebellion was over but his love his Lenore Dove, he's waiting for Lenore Dove, he doesn't want anyone but Lenore Dove. "but he was 16 he should move on" he didn't want to and romantic relationships aren't the only thing that make life worth it. he's waiting for his rare and radiant maiden and that's ok too.
