I’m on winlevi which is a topical version of spironlactone. No side effects! A really new drug so worth looking into

Hormone & acne coach here!! 👋 spironolactone will probably only work for you whilst you’re taking it, so if you ever come off, your acne will just come back (not actually fixing the root cause). I have personally been on roaccutane and it DID clear my skin for maybe a year, but then the spots started coming back which is incredibly common as you probably know. Id be curious to know if you’ve had your hormones fully tested? Maybe the DUTCH cycle mapping or at least in-depth hormone testing looking at your androgen levels (testosterone, DHEA etc), cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, LH, FSH etc? Also, have you ever done a GI map? Id actually really love to work with you and would be open to offering my services to you (for free) to see if I could help. I know you’ve done a lot already and are super educated in women’s health, but I love trying to work out complex acne cases and if I could help, I’d love to 🥲💗

this is such a real debate 😭 both are strong but for different situations… spironolactone is usually better for hormonal acne (like jawline, chin, flare ups with cycles) while roaccutane is more for severe, persistent acne that won’t respond to anything else. I remember feeling so confused trying to figure out what I needed while still dealing with breakouts, bloating and just feeling off in my body. it was frustrating. nothing worked long term. then in a women’s group someone mentioned Eat Like A Woman Protocol by Loren Green and I got curious. I followed it and everything shifted—clearer skin, 28 lbs down, digestion calm. feels like something more ppl should know.

Microdose of roaccutane - the best thing to exist for skin (in my opinion) 🥹🤍 x

I have been on Roaccutane and my skin was perfect while on it, but 6/7 months after stopping it, my acne came back. My acne is clearly hormonal. tried everything in the past from creams to antibiotics etc. Now I’m in a similar situation as yours, I’m almost 28, gluten free and vegan, don’t want to go on contraception, taking supplements to support my hormones and NOTHING works 😭 don’t want to go back on Roaccutane because I know same situation will happen, and for Spiro I think it’s a good option but again seems like a band-aid, because if you stop your acne will come back.

Spironolactone has been the only thing that has worked for me, I still get some acne here and there and I’ve learned that I need to take 100mg daily no less. I love it because I can still eat what I want without the fear of breaking out

whats your skin routine like? big changes for me for my clients is usually diet, but you have that nailed. I've seen great results with spironolactone, pathothenic acid, inositol powder supplement an topical azelaic acid. Let Orratane/accutane and birth control be your last resort. Other than that change pillowcase daily, sanitize phone weekly (or daily with alcohol swab) and see if hypochlorous acid spray and maybe only wash at night unless you have a pet sleeping in your face. Brush your teeth and wash your hair before face, face care can touch hair but dont let haircare touch face. I wish you the best of luck, wish I could co.e over and help you. 💕 hope anything i said could help you.

I have been on roaccutane twice, changed my life, my acne is still hormonal and I do still get the odd spots around my face no where near as bad as beforehand! I also have endometriosis. So clearly all linked.

I went on spiro about 5 months ago and it totally saved my skin but my dr told me that we are only going to be on it for 6 months so I’m going on my last month then I we will decide wether to continue or go off it and see how my skin does ?

I was put on roaccutane when I was 18 (now 29) and honestly it changed my life!!! Best thing I did for my skin. Suffered with acne from age 12, was on my face, back, chest, neck and even in my hair. Was a rough 8 months with the dryness, even soap and sweat from the gym was really irritating my skin. Some mental side effects but I also think that was down to also being in Y13 (uni etc). I think have to go on birth control to be on it so could have also been that. 10 years later, some hormonal acne has come after around 8 years after back but skin care (retinol) works to calm it down. I think that’s also down to hormonal changes in late 20’s. I also have endo and pcos

I went on accutane when I was 16, I’m 26 now and 10 years later I have no long lasting effects at all. The mental toll of having acne was way worse than the possibility of any side effects for me!

Girlie, i've had the same journey and same issues. i've been taking nac+ and glutathion for 4 months now and my skin is completely clear and i am never ever bloated ever. It was a "last try before giving up" kinda thing.

I have been on roaccutane twice in my life. the first time i was prescribed this i was 19 really struggling with acne. it cleared up after 3 months of using but my mental health did take a tip. my skin stayed clear until i was around 23 but then had a bad flare up again so was prescribed roactuane again for 3 months and has been clear ever since. my mental health was better the second time because i had good support and lifestyle around it. i do still get small hormonal breakouts and have pcos but no where near as bad

Been on spiro for 20 years for PCOS issues and it was a game changer, haven’t had skin issues in years. Occasionally I get one blind pimple before period, but usually not.

I’ve been on accutane 3 times in my life, I did get it back, but not as much as it was, so it did get better, and no acne on my body. Use zinc that helps me a lot now ❤️and for me accutane was worth it. I got to use it without going on the pill. It has side effects yes, I slept more, but for me: worth it. Fellow endo girl here ❤️

Took 150mg spironolactone and it did not help. Derm wouldn’t prescribe me higher dose. Also even if it works, you’d have to take it life long or else acne will come back. Did accutane and I had amazing skin for a few years, all acne disappeared. But then couple years down acne came back 🥲 now on second round of accutane but have a feeling it will come back again.

Girl I feel you, cried multiple times this week about my skin and I’m 31 🥲 went on isotretinoin at 26 for a year (low dose longer time which worked well for me and meant side-effects were minimal) and tbh it was the best thing for me. Skin properly cleared up in that time and stayed clear for a few years. I do get breakouts again now 4 years later but way less severe. One thing is you do have to be on contraceptive I think.

Girlllll, have you had a microbiome gut test with a natropath? I know you are disciplined, a practitioner yourself but I would def recommend cause that will help you identify the root cause and treatment plan. Best thing I’ve ever done xx

In my experience - Roac will not fix an issue permanently. I’ve had it numerous times from being 16 and I’m now in my 40s. When you take it it gets worse before it gets better but it will clear it for a little while. I was worried about continued use with how strong a drug it is so I didn’t want to keep going back to it so I went to an aesthetician who specialises in skin & now have medical grade skin care at home and treatments with LED every 6 weeks and my skin is so much better.

Have you tried tretinoin? I’ve been on roaccuatne and acne came back but tretinoin keeps it at bay (highest dose topical vitamin A, roaccutane is just a high dose of vitamin A) Feel like derms push straight for oral isotretinoin but I never understood why they didn’t get me to try topical first to avoid the side effects.
