@theeconomist: Donald Trump wanted “Liberation Day” to rescue American manufacturing. A year on, has he succeeded? His administration’s patchwork of inconsistent policies has made planning for the future impossible for businesses. Tap the link to read how, despite the instability, global commerce has strengthened. #liberationday #donaldtrump #america #tariffs
Guess what. Oracle laid off 30k employees to invest in data center buildouts. 🤬

Plenty of things small business use can ONLY be found over seas. This is one of the most asinine, and devastating policy that mostly affects small businesses

This is why acting without congressional approval was the biggest mistake. He thinks he doesn’t have to seek approval from us through our representatives.

It can be difficult to decipher between incompetence and corruption since the impact is similar. Capitalism was never designed to be a standalone system, no matter how badly some would like it to be. Companies once allowed internal departments to hire their own employees (they knew exactly what skills they needed and how to decipher who possessed them). The HR departments eventually took over all hiring for the company (they match skills verbatim to a checklist provided by the department, but were still able to communicate with the department). HR eventually outsourced the hiring of employees (skills matched verbatim, no communication). The external hiring eventually shifted to external employment with contracts to carry out the work of employees within the company (here is what is available, take it or leave it). The external companies are transitioning to corporate style takeovers that are shifting to a centralized structure that could potentially control all jobs (people who are unable to pass through filtering systems will not be eligible for any employment). An example of an endangered role is computer engineering. Since computer engineers took roles as both hardware engineers and software engineers, but not as computer engineers, confusion has placed electrical engineers into their hardware roles and computer scientists into their software roles. Neither were qualified, but changes in university curriculums have extended required learning to briefly cover some of the computer engineers curriculum. Computer engineers are no longer considered to be qualified for either role. The system is broken and continues to break even further. Job postings, while estimated to be >90% fake, might be shifting role qualifications from US universities degree programs to foreign/non-accredited degree/certificate programs. The government should investigate and design a new system that works to legally and efficiently connect businesses with people. The states have proven incompetent/ineffective.
