For everyone in here that feels behind or stuck, I would like to share my advice for dealing with the grief of a relationship ending. Please remember you’re right where you are supposed to be. Focus less on moving on from the relationship and more about moving forward as an individual. Comparing the process of healing, especially the duration it takes is what keeps you in the same place. Everyone loves differently, everyone connects differently and most importantly everyone heals differently. I have thought a lot girls were the one throughout my life and I am only 26, the truth is, everything gets better, including the people you find when you become the version of yourself that doesn’t require companionship to feel peace or happiness. Some people are chapters, not the whole story, and no matter how beautiful those pages were, you can’t keep rereading them and expect a different ending. You have to close the book, even if your hands shake while doing it. And letting go… it’s not a single decision, it’s something you’ll have to choose over and over again. It’s choosing not to text them when your chest feels heavy, choosing not to romanticize the version of them that no longer exists, choosing yourself on the days it would be easier to fall back into what’s familiar. It’s painful, it’s slow, and it’s unfair but it’s also the beginning of you finding a love that doesn’t leave you questioning your worth.
