Africa has enormous natural resources, young populations and huge economic potential. Yet many African countries continue to face high levels of debt, poverty and inequality. That raises an important conversation about the global economic system: **why do countries rich in resources so often struggle to translate that wealth into prosperity for their own people?** This isn't about saying that every World Bank project is harmful, or claiming that the institution secretly controls Africa. It's about asking difficult questions about **power, debt, economic sovereignty and who benefits from development policies.** We should be willing to examine the history, look at the evidence, listen to African economists and communities, and question institutions that have enormous influence over developing countries.
