My brother went to college when I was like eight. Came back, tried this trick again, and found out that my vocabulary had improved enough that it no longer worked.

When my oldest was about 6, he'd ask if he could go jump on the trampoline, but it would disturb the; supposed to be, sleeping toddler. so, he started asking, can I go, J-U-M-P on the T-R-A-M-P (he'd shorten it because he couldnt fully spell it 😂) after about a week.. the toddler caught on and would start yelling, "I wanna jump on the LMNOP!!" 😂😂😂💙💙💙

we started fighting this by calling things by boring names instead and giving boring things fun names. granola bars are cookies, goldfish are aquatic crackers, and everything that has sprinkles is now ice cream (yogurt)

There's a family story about one of my moms cousins who had a lot of siblings and they taught the older kids to spell it when they wanted candy until the youngest said "I want cdy too"

We used to spell. Then she learned. We moved to backwards. That lasted a month. I'll tell you what we're really good at word scrambles now 😂

I'm 21 years old and spelling around me still works because they tend to spell it way too fast for my brain to keep up so I can't register what they're spelling out😂

Long family tradition…ice cream in our family (began when my mom was young) is spelled E-C-D-C. My grandparents would spell ice cream, my mom thought it was ecdc.
