Is it just candy? Just costumes? Not really. Today many Muslims think Halloween is harmless fun, and that it is just kids dressing up and collecting sweets. But where did it actually come from? Centuries ago, it started as a pagan night where people believed the dead returned. To protect themselves, they would wear scary costumes and light fires to chase spirits away. The entire idea is built on beliefs about spirits, dead, and unseen. This directly contradicts the Islamic Aqeedah. That's why Islam warned us so clearly about copying such practices. The Prophet ﷺ said: مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

The Prophet ﷺ said: مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ "Whoever imitates a people will be considered from amongst them" [Sunan Abi Dawud 4031] And Allah says: ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ "Then We put you on a clear way of the matter, so follow it and do not follow the desires of those who do not know" [Al-Jathiyah 45:18] Islam gave us our own celebrations, our own identity. We don't need to borrow a night built on Shirk and superstition. This Oct 31st, keep it simple. Keep it a normal day.
