I have a huge soft spot for the NHS back in my home country and deep respect for the hardworking individuals who keep it on its feet against all odds. But watching its slow decline over the years has been painful. Increasingly, I find myself thinking that something closer to the Chinese model—government-backed healthcare that actually delivers on access, cost, and speed—might offer the most viable alternative if the UK ever chooses a different path.
