I wish you luck for you and your family but this idea that you can just buy properties and invest money in shares with a modest income, and then retire 'early' and 'live off the investments' I have my doubts.

You could always go down the route of buying another investment property now, and when you’re ready to buy your house of residence, you could sell one of your properties- maybe your house you talked about being heavily negatively geared to fund your deposit for your residential home later

I spouse you need to ask yourself do I want something that is liquid or not, do I want safer with more leverage. End of the day, stay diversified and do what interests you. you already have the $130k in stocks that you can liquidate quickly.

How do you manage the insurances, rates, repairs etc on so many properties. I can manage the gap in mortgage repayments (between rent and mortgage) but the other regular expenses are what makes me concerned for me to be able to service the costs.
