I literally grew up in “a village”. The town sign literally says “village of…” we have a gas station, a bank, a photographer and a lumber yard. Village size is less than 150 people now. My school (k-12) is made up of 4 towns combined!

my hometown only has 2k people and has a wal mart and a starbucks. it's not because of our town though. we have a huge high way that is used heavily for traveling and it's a tourist town.

Villages are less than 1000 population. Towns are 1000 to 100,000. cities are more than 100,000. IMHO small towns are below 15,000. and small cities are below 200,000 - but if you make a good argument, I could increase that number.

we have a walmart. but its the only one in a 30 mile radius. and the only other thing is a dollar general 🤣 we have 6000 people but the state correctional is included in our census
