The rich man did not end up in hell because he was wealthy. Lazarus was at his gate every day and he never saw him. The evidence was there. The need was there. He looked past it his entire life. And from the other side of the chasm he said if someone rises from the dead they will repent. Someone did. Christ used the name Lazarus in this story on purpose. Rich man asked to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers about the place of torment. And so Jesus did as he was asked. He raised Lazarus from the dead a few days later and this miracle still wasn’t enough to believe in him. They crucified Him.

What the rich man saw was Abraham’s Bossom. This was “temporary heaven” since the crucification/resurrection. Those that were in Abraham’s Bossom are now in the current heaven, until judement day/New Heaven
