Trump claims that the 14th amendment, which has been the law of the land for well over 100 years, has been applied too broadly and should not be extended to a child unless one of their parents is a citizen or legal resident. The Citizenship Clause states that

As if to confirm those fears, the Trump administration removed the Department of State page online which discusses statelessness, a page which had been available in one version or another since at least the Obama administration. The Supreme Court is not expected to release their decision until June or July.
