There are moments in history that words struggle to carry. This is one of them. Abbas ibn Ali (AS) stood before his brother Hussain (AS) with a heart torn between obedience and unbearable pain. From the tents — the voices of children pierced the air. Al Atash. Al Atash. We are thirsty. We are thirsty. Abbas (AS) could no longer bear it. He came to Hussain (AS) — the one he called Master, the one whose feet he placed his head upon — and said: "My Master. My Imam. I can no longer watch the children suffer this thirst. Give me permission. Let me go. Let me show the enemies of Islam what it means to cut water from the family of the Prophet (PBUH)." Again and again he pleaded. His heart was breaking with every cry of Sakina (SA). Every Al Atash from the tents was a sword going through his chest. Hussain (AS) looked at his brother — the one who was his strength, his shield, his right arm — and said with eyes full of love and grief: "Abbas — you are the strength of my arms. How can I send you to that battlefield? If you must go — do not fight. Go only for water. Bring them water." Abbas (AS) received his permission. He walked into the tents one last time. He looked at each face. He comforted each heart. He said his farewells with the smile of a man who has already made peace with what is coming. Then he walked onto the battlefield. He looked up at the sky — at the heavens that had witnessed everything — and said: "My Lord. My Creator. I go for the sake of the children of Your Prophet (PBUH). Just a little water. That is all I ask. My Master — arrange it so that I may return this water pouch to the tent of Sakina (SA)." He rode toward the Euphrates. An entire army stood between him and one small water pouch for one thirsty child. And Abbas (AS) did not hesitate. Not for a single breath. Because that is who he was. Not a warrior who loved war. A brother who loved his people more than he loved his own life. السلام علیک یا باب الحوائج السلام علیک یا عباس ابن علی السلام علیک یا قمر بنی ہاشم Peace be upon you O Abbas (AS) — the moon of Banu Hashim. The guardian who never failed. The brother who walked into an army with nothing but loyalty and love. Your name is not just a name. It is the definition of what devotion truly means. Salawat upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his blessed Ahle Bayt (AS).
