Instead, I stop dragging him into my reasoning world and I drop into his. Here's the most important part, I got it wrong to begin with. Remember I went straight for reasoning, defending myself. But the turning point was when I caught it fast. I felt it not landing and I switched instead of pushing harder. That's the real skill. It’s not about knowing the perfect thing to say, but rather noticing you're on the wrong path early and being willing to turn off it.
