These laws distinguished Israel from the surrounding pagan nations and taught ritual holiness through symbolic categories of “clean” and “unclean.” The issue was never that vultures were morally evil animals. The food laws were covenant markers for Israel under the Old Covenant. Then comes Jesus in Matthew 15:11. Christ is not contradicting God or abolishing morality. He is correcting the Pharisees’ misunderstanding of defilement. Sin does not primarily come from external food entering the body, but from the sinful heart. Jesus shifts the focus from ceremonial purity to moral purity. This fits perfectly with the broader New Testament. Under the New Covenant, many ceremonial laws tied specifically to Israel’s covenant identity are fulfilled in Christ. That’s why Mark 7:19 says Jesus declared all foods clean, and why Acts 10 and Romans 14 affirm that dietary restrictions are no longer binding on Christians. Deuteronomy 4:40 does not mean every ceremonial regulation remains unchanged forever in every covenant administration. Even the Old Testament anticipated covenantal changes. Christians believe the moral law reflects God’s eternal character, while ceremonial and civil laws pointed forward to Christ and were fulfilled in Him. So there’s no contradiction: * God gave Israel temporary ceremonial food laws under the Mosaic Covenant. * Jesus fulfilled that covenant and inaugurated the New Covenant. * Moral uncleanness comes from sin, not from eating certain animals. The law changed covenantally, not because God contradicted Himself, but because redemptive history moved forward in Christ.

old testament btw, it's not meant to be followed to the letter. The new testament, jesus, was sent down by God. he didn't argue with God's word, but he more so wanted to be more clear. I dont know how to explain it
