I think that you guys greatly misunderstand the steps. Its not once you walk down the steps you CAN return to the world, its once you walk down the steps you HAVE to. Have to deal with people and the world

I always read it as 1 step forward 2 steps back. She over came a mental hurdle and wasn’t prepared to handle the rest. So she went back to her own safely. She knows she capable but she just needs the courage and determination to do it. She just wasn’t ready yet

I get this is not a serious post, but am I the only one who totally understands it?😭 I once walked up and then down around 800 steps (very narrow and spiral) with no training. Going up was more difficult for my muscles and breathing (i was dying when I got to the top lol) but going down was horrible, in a spiral staircase your head just starts spinning and you feel like falling and throwing up, so I totally get Nesta backing up and going back up😭 (I also think SJM didn't really think it through when she decided to put 10,000 steps)

This is a great question actually. Maybe because once she got down, she would have to climb up 10k steps to get back? Unless someone is kind enough to winnow or fly her back up.
