My dad died on 24/02/2026 from cancer and my brain has learnt how to disassociate from that time to help me cope with the new reality without him and pretend that everything is just like how it was before he passed. Then my my brain gets tired from pretending and the guilt hits and the fear hits that my brain will make me forget how his voice sound when he spoke or laugh

Almost two years and nobody ever brings him up. And if I do people get so uncomfortable. I can’t talk to my family about it so I just sit with it all day long.

20 years and no one asks anymore. which isn’t fair bc I was a kid when he died, and didn’t fully know how to grieve until I was an adult. it feels like he died 5 years ago

My dad passed 04/23/26 and everyday feels like he is on vacation and will come back. I wait for that front door to open one more time and see him walk in. 😭😭💔

Let's talk about our dad's! I threw a soft ball at my dad's back and he turned around giggled and told me "good throw" when I was learning how to do a 360 turn and throw for soft ball at 10. My mom never let me listen to my music at her house unless she put it on for herself, but my dad! He'd learn the kpop dances with me, he'd dance with 13 year old me in front of my iPad camera. What about your dad??

Going on year 6… I spent that first year refusing to talk about him, getting so angry when anyone talked about him. I wish they would discuss my daddy now. It took me getting arrested, being sober, to fully grieve him, but now it’s hard to not have people discuss him. I want people to know it’s okay to bring him up.

it’s been over 5 years for me too girl and i definitely understand this but i also use dark humor and no one really knows how to respond 😭 like i know it’s a devastating thing but i try to make light of it so it doesn’t feel like im trauma dumping

I lost my mom and my brother and I just want to talk about them all the time. But the look of sorrow on people’s face and watching the discomfort from them keeps me from talking about them anymore. I just want to brag about them because they were so damn amazing.

I have never related so deeply to something. It almost feels like he only ever existed in my world? No one talks about him. No one says they miss him but me. How can everyone live as though he was never here? Am I supposed to forget him? Does that make it easier? 18 years with him will never be enough.

Hi Kendell! I’m going to tell you a bit about my dad (he passed away on September 5th, 2024): his name was Luciano and he absolutely ADORED to the countryside and going around with his tractor 🚜, he was really supportive but a bit childish sometimes. He always used to say this “the only problem that doesn’t have a solution is death”, a sentence that always gave me so much confidence in tough situations. You and others next!
