I don't think we always realize how emotionally sensitive dogs can be. we certainly don't think about a dog going through depression at least I never really did but they are emotionally complex beings and highly intelligent. when there's major changes going on within the home that affects daily routine your dog senses this and it has an emotional effect on them. bella has been moved around a lot. She has passed through the hands of multiple owners. some were abusive and neglectful. she had developed ulcerative colitis , which is a painful condition and can flare up during stress. she lived with me for 3 years every day She could count on the routine being the same. and she thrived. it wasn't until we had to move suddenly In april that she began having problems with her condition and with depression. but we had to move around a lot to different motels Even sleeping outside this obviously had a negative effect on her diet. but now that we've had a little bit of stability for the past 2 months i had to take her to the vet feed her A steady diet of rabbit which is a very lean and easily digestible meat. She's starting to do much better. i'm slowly starting to transition her Back to her normal diet.I'm just praying sophia , okay , because every time i'm tried she ended up getting sick. i Guess i'm trying to say is your dog is a complex intelligent emotional being. what we do has an effect on them taking on the responsibility of a dog Is life long. it might be easy for us to pass them along to someone else if things get difficult but the dog does suffer. i was very concerned when I took her on. i knew caring for her would be financially difficult for me.And if I had to move finding a place to live with her would be extremely challenging and it has. but I made a commitment to her and I love her dearly. i've been told more than a few times that I should give her to someone else. but she's my baby She's my companion and my friend. and I won't give her up just because things get difficult.
