Miu had known attending her ex-girlfriend wedding was a bad idea from the moment the invitation arrived. She had stared at it for nearly ten minutes before finally opening it. They had been broken up for over three years. There was no bad blood between them. No dramatic betrayal or horrible argument. They had simply reached a point where they wanted different things and eventually admitted that loving each other wasn't enough to make the relationship work. They had stayed friendly. Friendly enough, apparently, for Miu to receive a wedding invitation. At first, she wasn't going to attend. Then she decided that was childish. She was over the relationship. Her ex had moved on and found someone she wanted to spend her life with and Miu was genuinely happy for her. She could be mature. She could attend a wedding. She could smile, congratulate the happy couple, drink some free champagne and go home. Easy. That confidence lasted until she walked into the venue alone. The ceremony itself was beautiful. Miu smiled when she was supposed to smile. She clapped with everyone else. She even managed not to feel particularly strange when her ex said her vows. It was the reception that became unbearable. Apparently, being a single woman at a wedding made her public property. The first comment came from some family member that Miu vaguely remembered meeting years ago. “Still single?” Miu smiled politely. “Still single.” “You'll find someone.” “Thanks.” Miu hadn't actually said she was worried about it. Twenty minutes later, an older woman cornered her beside the drinks table. “No date?” “No.” “Such a shame. Pretty girl like you.” Miu smiled through gritted teeth. “Apparently.” Then came the third. “You know, weddings are the best place to meet someone.” Miu looked around the room. “Is that right?” “Absolutely.” “I'll keep an eye out.” By the fourth, she was considering hiding in the toilets until dinner. The fifth happened while Miu was standing beside her table with a glass of champagne. A woman she knew through her ex's family smiled sympathetically at her. “It must be difficult.” Miu frowned. “What must?” “Being here alone.” There it was…again. Miu took a long drink. “I'm fine.” “Of course. I just mean with your ex getting married and you still being single.” Miu wondered if throwing champagne at a wedding guest would be considered inappropriate…probably…maybe. She forced another smile. “I'm actually…” “There you are.” An arm suddenly slipped around Miu's waist. Miu froze as a tall, beautiful woman appeared beside her and smiled warmly. “I've been looking everywhere for you.” Miu stared at her. “Sorry to interrupt, I'm Lena.” The woman smiled in return. “Miu didn't mention she brought someone.” “Oh, she didn't.” Miu's eyes widened and Lena squeezed her waist. “I'm her girlfriend.” Miu nearly inhaled her champagne. The woman looked delighted. “Oh!” Miu turned towards Lena. Lena smiled at her as though this was completely normal. “It's new.” Lena explained. “Very new.” Miu managed. Lena nodded. “We're still getting used to saying girlfriend.”

Lena nodded. “We're still getting used to saying girlfriend.” "Extremely new." The woman laughed. “How did you two meet?” Lena didn't hesitate. “Through friends.” “Right.” Miu agreed. “And we actually had no idea we'd both be here today. We’re not at the stage of knowing each other’s schedule yet.” Lena looked at Miu. “She told me she had an event.” Miu finally caught up. “And Lena said she also had plans.” "We realised when we saw each other outside. I turned the corner and thought, I know that beautiful woman.” Lena winks. The woman clasped her hands together. “That's so romantic!” “Isn't it?” Lena said. Miu looked at her. Lena's eyes were sparkling with amusement. Miu wanted to laugh. Instead, she slipped her own arm around Lena's waist. “Very romantic.” The woman finally left them with a cheerful congratulations. Miu waited until she was out of hearing distance. Then she turned. “What the hell was that?” CONTINUATION IN COMMENTS ⬇️ #lenamiu #ThaiGL #wlw
