I learned about the Harlem Hell Fighters from a historical fiction book set in France- but I can’t recall the title or author, which is beyond frustrating. It sent me down a rabbit hole that left me pissed and embarrassed. They were denied every single promise they should have been granted. One account was from a French soldier who lived then and had nothing but the absolute best to say about them. His account was rich with respect and love. I’ll try to find the book title.

My great uncle was a Harlem Hellfighter. My family still has his uniform somewhere. 🔥👌

Yes... I did know about our FEARLESS Brothers, THE Harlem Hellfighters.... They gave them BROOMS as guns!!! Let that SINK IN!!! They did eventually get guns and WENT IN on the enemy!!!

Yes. My Dad joined out of high school as a private. And passed away as a full colonel. The armory is still in Harlem. My dad actually traveled to France where they have a monument to the Harlem Hellfighters for World War I. My dad wasn’t in there for World War I, he wasn’t that old. But he was so proud to be a part of the Harlem Hellfighters. And there are a lot of Black men that are still proud to be apart of the Harlem Hellfighters.
