you don't need a helmet wig. I don't really know how to explain it but if you criss-cross the hair and part them like that it should look "normal". I can try to find a video and tag you if you like?

I had to ask my friend to make my angel wig 😞 they didn't make an helmet wig bc I didn't want it but they made like a zigzag with the hair???? basically a fake hairline, no idea how, but bless my friend and their skills 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I hate helmet wigs with a burning passion. Other people can do it, I dont care. A good cosplay is a good cosplay. But personally, it doesnt sot as comfortably as keeping the mesh under the hair. This was my Lady Gyokuyou. No crimping, no steaming, no helmet. Just hairspray, a little water/glue solution, a comb, and a toothbrush.

My lazy method is just trim the back to a short hair length and hairspray it down flat

Iknow helmet wigs are what’s in vogue now, but it’s not the only way to do pigtail parts. There’s the zigzag method like others have mention, or you can glue in wefts down the center to make a fake part. Look at older tutorials on YouTube, or even Deviantart if you really want to cite the ancient texts lol people have been solving this problem well before helmet wigs became the default. No shade to helmet wigs, I think they’re great and definitely have their place in the cosplay world, but sometimes people want a more natural finish, or can’t wear helmet wigs for sensory/medical reasons, so it’s good to keep the old methods alive

it's not necessary to ruin a wig to make a helmet wig. make a short cut, and create the pigtails attached to hair clips
