remember, the steam deck price increase is after the situation already got out of hand, meaning for a while, they had to take a loss on profit waiting for the economy to stabilize before finally increasing the price. on the bright side though, it's a quite old console so those who want it already had it.

i hate epic games, it took them 2 years to change my age on my account from 9yo to what i actually am even tho i submitted a shitload of tickets and proof... meanwhile on steam i got hacked and within 5 hours i got everything back

i LOVED valve... past tense they are still good and one of the best options, but i am not liking the entire hardware store page management and communication. other hardware companies upped their prices too, but said it in advance and honoured pre orders at the price they were at. valve ran the stock of the deck out, selectively chose which markets got the stock rather than evenly distribute and then upped the price on restock by 200-300 with no warning, and no chance to pre order one at current prices. there was also the controller fiasco where they somehow did not see the reality of scalpers raiding the stock and reselling for again 200-300 when they have existing queuing systems for the store they could have used, so they directly profited off scalpers over their loyal customers. there was no sort of "you have existing contoller hardware and engaged with the beta and fixing of it, would you like to get in on the new one" they are feeling increasingly not just out of touch but actively changing coats and fully into the apple style world of charging the world for average hardware and the customer being wrong because they are not doing it their way.

Steam & Gabe aren't the good guys but they are a company who treats gamers more fairly, agreed. Epic can go kick rocks, I'm one of those who'd buy a game on Steam instead of getting it free on the Epic garbage app. I have a few hundred games on steam but I'd rather purchase from GOG.

I don't get the Epic hate. Free games, cheaper games, they take a smaller cut from sales, less bloat in the client — and they've brought the fight to Apple on their unfair business practices. I feel like everyone got pissed with the first few exclusive games on Epic and decided to hate on them for life.
