@voiceofmidwivesandnurses: Newborn babies don’t get real periods or grow breasts from puberty. What’s happening: Mom’s estrogen passed to baby before birth. When it drops after delivery, baby’s body reacts. Result in temporary breast buds (swelling) and light spotting(blood) in girls. Boys can have breast swelling too. It’s harmless. It’s called neonatal breast hypertrophy. It is common and temporary. Psuedo menses and neonatal breasts are not an emergency unless there’s pain, redness, pus, or heavy bleeding. #newborncare #postnatalcare #baby #naturalbirth #Maternity
