I remember watching CBS growing up, especially during the time when Dan Rather was pushed out after controversy over comments related to President Bush. It felt like the network started shifting after that. Then you had other high-profile issues involving figures like Julie Chen and Les Moonves, and it seemed like CBS gradually lost some of its credibility.
Now, looking at the media landscape today, it feels like major networks are influenced more by powerful interests than by a commitment to transparent journalism. With figures like Larry Ellison involved in media ownership, some people see this as part of a broader concern about political influence shaping what information reaches the public.
To me, it raises a bigger question about whether the media is fully independent or increasingly aligned with political power. That kind of environment can make people feel like important information is being filtered or controlled.
At some point, people have to step back and think critically about where they’re getting their information and who might be influencing it.
