This turns a lat pulldown into more of an upper-back movement. Flaring the elbows and pulling behind the neck reduces the lats’ ability to extend the shoulder, so rear delts and traps end up doing more of the work. A normal pulldown with the elbows driven toward the hips is usually much better for lat hypertrophy, assuming that’s the goal of course:)
