Faraz, known not only as a romantic poet but also as a voice of resistance, had faced imprisonment and exile for openly criticizing tyranny and injustice. The verses echo the pain of betrayal, the wounds inflicted by one's own people, and the destructive cycle of violence that repeatedly haunted his homeland. Rather than being a personal lament alone, this poem was his protest against oppression, hypocrisy, and the exploitation of patriotism and religion as tools of power. In essence, the ghazal was born out of his disillusionment with society's divisions and his deep yearning for unity, justice, and peace.
