@andrew.bagley: We talk about burnout like it’s a personal failure: - Poor boundaries. - Weak discipline. - Bad time management. But what if burnout is often a systems problem, not a people problem? Most modern work environments are designed for constant vigilance: Notifications. Screens. Alerts. Artificial urgency. They quietly tax the same cognitive resources leaders rely on for judgment, creativity, and emotional regulation. What’s interesting is that recovery doesn’t always require less work — it often requires different inputs. This raises uncomfortable (and useful) questions for leaders and organizations: Are we designing workplaces that extract focus or restore it? How much of “low performance” is actually environmental friction? If nature measurably improves attention and decision quality, why is it treated like a perk instead of infrastructure? We invest heavily in productivity tools. Much less in cognitive renewal. And yet, strategy, innovation, and good leadership all depend on a brain that isn’t chronically depleted. If you were redesigning work for better thinking—not just more output—what would you change first? #Leadership #Burnout #WorkplaceDesign #BehavioralScience #DecisionMaking
