people celebrate PRs, but they don’t really talk about what comes after injury or setbacks… when your strength drops faster than your confidence. going from a 280 lb back squat to struggling with 100 lb box squats was more mentally challenging than I expected. it wasn’t just about the weight; it was about relearning patience, checking my ego, and trusting a body that didn’t feel familiar anymore. I’ve had countless moments where I was so close to quitting - not because I didn’t care, but because it felt exhausting to keep showing up without seeing the version of myself I recognized. every training session felt like a reminder of where I used to be, and the gym slowly went from a place I loved to a place I was starting to resent. I began to skip sessions, half-ass my programming, and question whether this was even worth it anymore… if you told the old me that I’d be proud to squat 145 lbs one day, I wouldn’t have believed you. my current progress doesn’t look impressive on paper, but it represents consistency, restraint, and learning how to trust my body again. the gym still isn’t what it used to be for me… but I’m hopeful. i’m still rebuilding my relationship with training, and for now that’s enough. ❤️
