I worked at the Gorge in Washington state for 18 years….in the bar right next to the main stage. Dave Matthew’s Band Labor Day weekends were wonderful. The music and the DMB fans were a phenomenal way to spend the holiday weekend. I was so fortunate to see them so many times.

God I hate being that guy, but with the almanac it’s so easy to confirm these things…TECHNICALLY they MAY HAVE played the Wetlands in July 1992 (setlist is unknown but they were at the very least scheduled to play) and they for sure played CBGB in August.

when I was a kid I was visiting my sister at UVA, and she took me to the opening weekend of the first ice age movie, I was a few years too old for the designed age for the movie but my sister didn't know what to do with me haha. when we sat down in the theater I realized that two seats down for me was Dave Matthews, because our family grew up listening to him. he was there because rusted Root one of the bands on his record label had music in the movie, plus just seeing it I guess. he really enjoyed the movie I kept looking at him. he said hi to me recognize that I knew who he was gave me a little high five said goodbye to us when he left. it was a really cool interaction.

I got to play CBGB multiple times in the early 2000s. We all wear that as a badge of honor. It was a full-blown dump but it sounded GREAT and it had so much lore. Shameful what they did with it.
