It’s 2026. I’d do the SAME EXACT THING, because I’m REALLY getting sick and tired of working 130hrs a week between my wife, me and even my 18 year old son who pays us $75 a week in rent, while I make $28hr getting paid 40hrs a week no matter what, salary, THEN, I help my boss every Saturday to work on his house projects for about 6hrs and he gives me $200 cash plus lunch, which is AMAZING because me and my wife NEVER go out to eat anymore, we don’t travel, we don’t buy ourselves fun gifts. I wear the same 3 pair of pants since 2010, maybe 12 shirts and shitty shoes. So when my boss buys me a medium pizza that I get to take home it’s like we won the lottery. Holy shit. I don’t understand I really don’t. 16 years ago, that’s not even that long ago, we CONSTANTLY went to movies, traveling, dinner, buying new cars and we were LIVING yet I was only making maybe $12hr, 30hrs, and she had just started her job at the hospital starting off at $18hr. I bought my son Xbox PS toys, cloths. 70in TVs. Now my wife makes $30 an hour and works 10 hours of OT a week, a extra $450, almost a extra $2000 a month, the same amount that we lived like kings when my son was 2 years old. Besides her 50hrs a week, I work Saturday, she waitresses on Sundays that use to be her old job, very close to the owner. She opens at 6am and finishes at 4pm. 10hrs. Her boss pays Her $15 an hour off the books. That’s another $150 a week, $600 a month. She works at a big restaurant and is the only waitress from 6am til 9am, and makes over a $100 before the 2nd girl comes in. $300 in tips every Sunday is average. So, just like her hospital OT, waitressing only on Sundays gets us almost another 2k. She makes over $7500 a month. I make about $1500 less. My son adds $300 towards bills. So we don’t buy anything, go anywhere So why are we just making it? If her and I both missed work a full month it would be over. Our electric bill is $350. Cell phones $450, $700 truck payment, $500 car payment, and $1600 a month for our house loan. Plus other bills and FOOD!! Holy shit. $200 every other day. I have a autistic 12 year-old son a level three nonverbal ADHD. Aggressive kid. We get zero help from the government.
