I have a house payment, utilities, gas, groceries, cell plan payments, insurance and cars are paid off. (4kids) Between me and my wife we make over 130k And we still can’t afford to do or buy anything. Your right a simple $600 buy is too much

Same. 98% of my outgoing bills are basic monthly bills. The rest is food. No extravagant trips or purchases

I always thought, when we hit 100k we could have new cars. 10 years ago. Now we make 180k together. and feel like we did when we made 90..

I’ve said this to my wife multiple times, if we were making the money we are today we were when we first started out we’d be set, but today feels worse than then and we were broke then.

My wife and I grew up very poor. We make really good money now. Big expenses are stressful. I’ve always lived like any day. I can lose it all. It’s a shitty way to live, but it’s built in.

I’m 22, single and I’ve been working since I was 16. I lost my car a year ago and I haven’t been able to save a dime for it. Literally barely make it every two weeks trying to feed my dog and parents. I’m exhausted

If the cost of everything didn't triple in the last few years we would all be okay. My grocery bill for a family of 3 use to be 200 for 2 weeks. now, at the same place, its closer to 400 for 2 weeks. I am buying the same stuff.
gas has also gone up. clothes have gone up. Electric, interest rates, ect has all gone up.

Because our dollar lost 40% of it's buying power over the past 5 yrs.
It's an absolute joke.
I felt richer making $18 and hour in 2010.

It’s all fake. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a simulation. In 1994 my wife and I made $4.25 an hour which was minimum wage. Now we make about five or six times what minimum wage is and there’s zero difference in our quality of life or the amount of money we have left over after bills between then and now.

Yes! Groceries, gas, upkeep on home & vehicles, diapers, insurance, upkeep on pets the bare minimum is killing us. Any little inconvenience is a set back for us. It’s not “living above your means” sadly.

I was just telling my wife the same thing. To the person that posted cutting out unnecessary expenses, we don’t do stuff like Starbucks or expensive restaurants ect. It’s just the daily needs to survive. We both have good jobs and split the household expenses. I used to be able to give my wife help with the groceries each month and be able to go out at least once a week for dinner. ( we both work long hours and it’s nice to take a break from cooking and dishes) but we aren’t able to do that anymore and I had to ask her for gas money this week. Why you ask? Because my truck broke down and I needed to fix it myself. Couldn’t afford to send it to the shop. Thank the good Lord I can fix stuff myself after a 10 hr day. Corporate greed, fuel, taxes and medical expenses are draining our accounts faster then we can put it in.
