Have you ever tried lab-grown meat? While shopping at Berkeley Bowl recently, the Chronicle’s own Janelle Bitker stumbled across a meatball sample made with lab-grown pork. San Francisco-based company Mission Barns cultivates the product by blending a plant protein base with pork fat cells they take from a pig. (Pigs aren’t killed in the process.)
