Do I think teachers should get paid more? Absolutely. Are you ever going to convince me this is a grueling schedule? Not a chance

Can we normalize that summer is 8-10 weeks of being unemployed!! It is not a vacation or PTO. It is also the most expensive time to travel but on a teachers income.

I do understand the point you’re trying to make and wholeheartedly agree that teachers are underpaid, but I get 15 days off a year…sooooo I don’t think this video quite landed where you were intending for it to land.

Why do people like arguing with teachers like if you want the same summers as teachers then become a teacher 😭✏️🍎

It doesn’t really matter how much time off it is when it’s unpaid it’s not vacation it’s a temporary lay off.

So I think both sides are wrong lol Most teachers are underpaid for what they do. They definitely should be paid more HOWEVER im not sure why there is such a hard time with teachers understanding they work a salary. lol Salary is literally built on someone paying you x amount of money to do a certain job regardless of hours. How your district decides to split your pay is moot - over 9 vs 12 months. If you dont work 40 days during the summer, you still are contracted for 50k for the year regardless until your new contract shows up. Im not sure what the confusion is.

I always got 12 weeks off and 2 days in high school. And either 15 or 16 weeks off throughout college

Idk that still sounds like quite a lot to me. Getting a built in break for major holidays is a good benefit too. We don't have to play the suffering olympics, we can just say yeah it is a perk of the job

If this video was supposed to make us feel sympathetic for teachers it did the opposite. No teacher ever should complain about their time off. You only get 10 weeks off and every single holiday known to man off. Most of us get 2-4 weeks off and even then we have to actually ask for those days off, they aren’t automatic

My wife barely gets 8 weeks. Each year they’re starting earlier and earlier. I think last school year they had a teacher work day on August 1st 😳

To summarize. teachers get 20% of the yr off. they need some mystery week to "prep" for the new yr. what changes from yr to yr where a "prep" is necessary? plenty of time to post on social media thankfully

Does anyone seriously think 3 continuous months of mandatory unpaid time off per year would be a job perk? At the compensation level of a teacher? I’m not buying it…
