Adam Alex Constantin Hudhayfah :
Before the Israelites settled in Canaan, the land was already inhabited by Canaanite peoples and other local populations. The Hebrew Bible itself describes the Israelites entering and settling in Canaan, later establishing the kingdoms of Israel and Judah.
So the historical question is not whether ancient Israelites existed in the land—they clearly did. The question is whether an ancient presence thousands of years ago creates an exclusive modern claim to the land.
Many peoples have lived in that region throughout history. Canaanites, Israelites, Philistines, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Crusaders, Ottomans, and many others all left their mark on the land.
The Philistines themselves were an ancient people who lived mainly along the southern coastal region of Canaan, including Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, and Gath.
Historical connection and exclusive ownership are not the same thing.
History is more complicated than slogans.
