An extrovert gains vitality through connection, just as an introvert gains it through solitude. Not sure if it necessarily translates in energy transfer from one person to another. Energy exists everywhere in the universe.

I consider myself an introvert. The exhaustion from social interaction didn’t came from energy vampires. But me not feeling safe around people and having to read and analyze every tone, move, body language and forecast safety. No doubt there are people that drains you quickly and they are not always extroverts

We will truely never know. Some people are exhausting to have around not so much that they take but the energy it takes you to react to their interactions with you.

In my opinion, anyone that is not connected to source tend to siphon energy unconsciously. Introvert can still be vampiric but the majority are usually extroverted.
