Say you own a company. it makes a profit. you say 'My company made some money, and I want to pay some of that profit into my bank account'. so you do some drawings. and you pay.. tax. 33%. Say i own shares in a company. I might get dividends. on which I then pay tax. Say I sell those shares. I've realised the value of them and converted them into cash. on which, again I pay tax. Companies generally pay tax when they keep money in the company. aka build up reserves. its a uniquely backward rule that often results in businesses having less in reserve than they probably should. I like the idea of helping patients, but there are probably better places to find the money. now if you were targeting structures that are well known to avoid paying tax in nz - think of all the tech companies paying tax in Ireland, it would be something actually putting more money back into the system, not just pinching it earlier in the process.

Australia’s had a capital gains tax for 40 years, and Sydney and Melbourne are among the least affordable cities in the world. A CGT doesn’t fix house prices, the model you’re citing proves it. And Labour’s version exempts the family home and only taxes gains made after mid-2027, on sale, so the revenue for those ‘free GP visits’ lands years after the bills do. Worth debating honestly, not over selling!!!

Anything above 3 times average annual salary should be taxed 90% otherwise this problems will continue. Inflation will be back every few months. If income disparity between high salary earners and low earners reduces, high earners will take the side of all working people. Else this will never change. A ceo that makes 6milliin will not care if someone at low income don’t get a benefit, because for them it is all just numbers. And the same ceo probably could be the reason for first home buyers not getting a chance into housing market, what else will high earners do other than buying property with the money they could not spent. CEO is just one example even peolle below them too earns huge numbers and is inflating market

Our country ranks 3rd worst in income inequality & 1st worst for homelessness in the OECD. Half this country has around 6% of household wealth. There are 100,000s of people living in poverty trying to survive. It's disgusting for a so-called wealthy country.
